Ever since The Middle Ages, smocking has been used for making fabrics stretchier. But today it’s applied in new and interesting ways.

Smocking is an embroidery technique, used to gather fabric. It’s often done on a lightweight material such as cotton or silk. The initial fabric requires three times the size of the final design.

Smocking has always been a part of Odd Molly’s DNA — often applied to waistlines, cuffs, busts and more. It’s a functional attribute but we also use it as a decorative fashion statement. We love smocking for the sweet elegance and handmade feel it adds to our styles.
